Let me cut right through all the commercial Muscle and Fiction Bull. There is no one perfect system of exercise. Plain and simple. I don't care how successful John Doe or Jane Dane may have happened to be with a specific exercise program, that does not mean it will give you the same results.

Think about it for a moment. If there were a perfect exercise system it would have to suit all ages, both male and female, purposes, circumstances, and physical requirements. Its use would result in the highest degree of total muscular balance, symmetry, strength, speed, and endurance; exact coordination between muscle and mind; an ability and talent for sports and games; flexibility, agility, adaptability; and so forth. These demands cover a range too wide to be achieved by any one system of exercise by any one individual at any one time.

However, some exercises and exercise systems are better than others. Specific target exercise systems can bring about certain definite results, and their utilization can result in one or more of the above-mentioned muscular benefits.

Real muscle growth takes place upon proper muscle stimulation and the steady accumulation of appropriate nutrients to promote healthy physical development.

The duration and endurance of your body depends upon the health condition of your organs. Your body parts must receive training and nutrition according to their requirements and the nature of their construction. One system of training or nutrition will not do it all, and certainly no one system will be suitable for every person.

If you are ectomorphic (underweight and tend to be on the thin side), you should avoid participating in endurance activities such as running, basketball, soccer, and other high volume activities while you are trying to build up your muscles. Most people assume that the more weight lifting sessions they do the better and quicker results they will get. This is a huge mistake, and you will learn that the natural laws of growth do not work that way. If you want to be successful you must alternate days of training with days of rest, so that nature can repair and build the muscle fibers. If you happen to be devoted to a certain sport that you must participate in, then it would be best for you to develop muscular growth during the off-season when you are not playing the sport.

After you have developed your muscles to your satisfaction, you can safely indulge in your favorite sport or activity.
